How To Get The Most Out Of Your Trip To Hershey
I love to get the most out of my money. My husband and I work hard and we play hard, too. So when it comes to fun and vacations we want to make sure we optimize our time and our experiences. We love to get season passes to our favorite museums and attractions as well as look for deals to help our dollar go further. This summer Hersheypark has many opportunities to save when you visit them. The package that made a lot of sense for our family was the Kids Stay, Play & Eat Free package. I know what you are thinking…..I live near Hershey so why not save money by driving home at night? And you are right, I could. But I know that after a long day in the Park that the LAST thing I want to do is to fight the construction on the road, fight fatigue and get the kids to bed once I get home. And THEN get up early the next morning to get BACK in the car and head BACK to Hershey for a second day of fun. Besides, when the kids get FEEE park tickets, lodging and breakfast it makes it WELL worth it to me to stay in a BEAUTIFUL Hershey Resort for the night.
But even with the good deal I wanted to MAXIMIZE all the attractions and benefits of the package deal.
So here is how I did it:
Arrive Early On Day 1
We arrived before noon on the first day and checked into the hotel. They start our sweet stay with a Hershey Bar for each of us! Our room was not ready, and I knew that was a possibility so I was fine with that. I did want to let the Lodge know that we were on property and to pick up our tickets to The Hershey Gardens and The Hershey Museum. Did you know that each guest of the Resorts of Hersheypark get complimentary passes to BOTH attractions weather you visit Hersheypark or not!
This package deal is looking sweeter and sweeter now, isn’t it?!

We decided to go to The Hershey Gardens because of the butterfly garden and the Children’s Garden. My youngest daughter LOVES butterflies. She is constantly seeking them out and uses them in a lot of her art work. The Children’s Garden has 32 themed gardens with SO MUCH kid friendly learning and discovery. One of our favorite features was the ABC boarder in one of the gardens. There was a plant that started with each letter of the alphabet and the kids had a lot of fun finding the plants that made up the letters of their names.
The day we were there on Marvelous Monday and the kids were able to make a craft in the education building. (I think that is what it was called!) It was a simple crepe paper and paper plate fish craft but it was something fun for the kids to do while we were dodging a rain shower.
After lunch and hiding from another rain storm (hopefully it doesn’t rain on the days of your visit!) we went to Hershey’s Chocolate World. I have loved Chocolate World from the time I was a child because they have the Chocolate Tour Ride. This conveyor belt ride takes your family on a tour of how chocolate goes from bean to bar. PLUS you get a chocolate sample at the end. I love this ride so much that I have been known to stop and ride it if I happen to be in the Hershey area.
While the Chocolate Tour ride is FREE there are a few other attractions that have a fee. We did the 4-D Chocolate Mystery and I was impressed! The only thing I could compare it too would be a combination of Turtle Talk with Crush meets The Great Muppet Caper meets Hershey.
They also have a Create Your Own Hershey Bar experience, Chocolate Tasting Experience (new for 2015) and the Trolley Works Tour. If you can’t decide check into a package deal and save on your sweet experience.
So it is now time to head back to the hotel for dinner. We have had almost a full day in Hershey and we haven’t stepped foot in the park…yet.
We had dinner at the Forebay located in the Hershey Lodge. This casual dining restaurant features food that my picky kids will eat with a selection of regionally inspired culinary creations that this foodie LOVED. If you dine anywhere on Hershey property that serves a Chocolate martini YOU MUST GET IT! Seriously, how can you go to Hershey and NOT get a CHOCOLATE martini!?
So after dinner, we took advantage of Park Preview that comes with staying at a Hershey Resort and rode a few rides. I love going to parks at night because people are leaving, it is cooler and the lines are shorter! It is just an awesome time to be in the park! Plus everything LOOKS different at night. SO COOL!
We were done with day 1 and we only spent a few hours IN the park. There is SO MUCH to do in Hershey beyond the Park.
We crashed in our super comfortable room. Did you want to see what it looks like?
I thought you did. I have a video for you!
We had a lazy morning followed by a #delicious #breakfast 🍴🍳🍫 Our kids not only stayed free at The Hershey Lodge and played free @hersheypark but they are eating free this morning too! @dininginhershey I have decided I need more #chocolate butter in my life. @hersheypa #hersheypa sponsored

We had a lazy morning lounging in bed because riding rides at night will wear a person out!
We went downstairs to Lebbie Lebkicher’s for breakfast. We could have ordered off the menu but we chose to eat from the buffet. The kids had pancakes and fruit and my sister ordered an omelet (included in the buffet). I had buttermilk pancakes slathered in chocolate butter and lots of bacon.
What I don’t have is photos from The Boardwalk….. I wish I had a GoPro so I could have taken video for you! This waterpark is INCLUDEd with you Hersheypark admission and we could have spent ALL DAY here. Family rides, kiddie rides, the wave pool, splash pads, food…it was amazing. Hershey provided life vests for the kids so don’t feel like you have to lug one with you all over the park. I appreciated that amenity! Another feature I loved was the clean changing/shower facilities! There were so many stalls for people to change into and out of their wet bathing suits.
I was also impressed with whatever product they use to create the walk ways around The Boardwalk. The kids and I were able to walk comfortable on the surface in bare feet in the 80+ degree weather with out our feet feeling like they were getting burnt on the bottom.
After several hours of wet fun we put back on our dry clothes and hit a few more rides before the kids collapsed from utter exhaustion from our fun filled day.
