Apple Inspired Appetizers For Fall
You all know I love good food and good drinks. But what I can not get enough of is appetizers! Seriously, I can (and have!) make a meal out of appetizers. There is just SOMETHING about yummy food in a small bite or a dip that makes me want them ALL THE TIME. If you are a restaurant and you have tapas or a small plate menu…. I am DONE. Take all my money.
With fall knocking on our door it is time to start thinking of all things Apple. Fresh apples, apple sauce, apple pie, dried apples, apple cider and culinary products featuring apples.
GIANT Food Stores loves Apples as much as the rest of us. They have created a Limited Time Original product line and they have decided to feature one of my FAVORITE apples, the Honey crisp. There are over 2,500 varieties of apples grown in the US and 100 varieties are grown commercially. So for the Honey crisp to be featured, that is a big deal! Not all apples taste, cook or juice the same! So I am super excited that Giant decided to feature the Honey crisp apple. It is so good for so many reasons!

Chicken and Waffles – Apple style!
Start with the Apple Chicken meatballs from the honey crisp line.
They are precooked but they are still frozen. I followed the package instructions to reheat them.
Grab a bottle of the Mulled Apple Bourbon BBQ Sauce (I could eat this with a spoon!)
I think this BBQ sauce would make and EXCELLENT addition to a pulled pork sandwich. Check out how I make it in the crockpot in this recipe from when Giant had the Bacon! Moonshine BBQ Sauce in limited release back in January. Same directions…. just switch out the sauces.
Toast the Belgian Waffles and cut each one into quarters.
Top each waffle quarter with a chicken meatball.
Secure with a toothpick.
Drizzle with the BBQ sauce.
I had a small bowl of extra sauce on the side for extra dipping if anyone felt it was needed.
These are DELICIOUS!
Great for an appetizer or ‘snack on dinner’ as we call it.
*sigh* I just want you to know I have had a love affair with baked brie from the age of 15 when I got my first job as a prep cook in a fancy country club. Brie and I go way back.
Giant has go you COVERED with this Honey Crisp Inspired Baked brie. The apples and cinnamon are already IN the pastry. The pastry is already wrapped around the brie so you don’t have to break out your rolling pin to roll out pastry.
It is fool proof.
Take it out of the plastic box and the plastic bag. Pop it on a cookie sheet and bake it according to the package instructions.
I sliced one of Giant’s Nature’s Promise baguettes to place along side the baked brie.
To add to the apple theme I sliced up an apple as well.
Nothing goes better with baked brie than baguette and apples!
What is appetizers with out a little cocktail?
The Just Pressed, unfiltered juice was just SCREAMING to be made into a Caramel Appletini. I love that this juice is unfiltered! All the GOOD of the apple is still in there. Just be sure to give it a good shake so you evenly distribute the fiber through the juice.
So simple, even I can do it!
In an ice filled shaker add:
- 2 oz caramel vodka
- 2 oz green apple vodka
- 4 oz Just Pressed apple juice
Shake it up and pour in a martini glass.
Garnish with a few slices of apple that have been dipped in cinnamon and ENJOY!
Grab the Honey Crips Apple Limited Time Originals while they are available. Check out more information about them on Giant’s website.
