Kids consignment sales are a wonderful place to get quality kids items for less than retail. Finding the best deals at a kids consignment sale is not hard, you just have to know what to look for. Walking into a sale can be a bit overwhelming but if you have a plan, keep an open mind to the possibilities of a deal and are smart in how you shop you can clean up the savings every time.
Tips For Shopping A Kids Consignment Sale
Get there early.
It is a well known fact that the early bird gets the worm! Or in this case, the deal and the selection. Shopping a sale on the first day will give you a fully stocked sale with access to all the items you may want to purchase. Just Between Friends has shopping on their pre-sale day for team members who work the sale BUT they also have other options for the general public.
I know you may give me the side eye for suggesting you get the Prime Time admission pass but what if you didn’t get it and someone else got THE stroller YOU were looking for?! Or what if there were two identical pack and plays but one was $10 cheaper AND had ALL the accessories? You would be missing out. Sometimes it is worth it to get the pass to know you had access to ALL the deals.
I love that Just Between Friends gives First Time Parents, Grandparents as well as teachers a jump start in line too. Every little bit helps when you are a new parent, grandparent or a teacher.
Look For New In The Box.
Look for items that are new and in the original box. Check to be sure that seals and tape are still in place. I know I have consigned items that I lost the receipt for or received a duplicate of. There was nothing wrong with the item and would make a perfectly lovely item for some one else to take home.
This consigner had this Joovy Boob PPSU Bottle gift set with a price tag of $60. BUT they were smart and printed out a sheet from Target showing a retail price of $120. That is 50% off!
A lot of times there are previously loved toys but there are also toys new in the box. This was just a small sampling of what I found at the Just Between Friends Lancaster sale.
Look for Designers
Keep your eyes open for designer labels. Just because you will be purchasing second hand does not mean that you will not be finding designer labels.
Just be sure to check for wear an tear and weigh if it is a purchase you want to make.
These FILA sneakers didn’t have a MARK on them. I kept looking for the original tag but there was not one.
Keep your eyes open for your favorite brands.
Bonus tip: Go with a friend and divide and concur. Know what the other is looking for, gather and meet up to see if what each of you found was what was wanted. Cover twice the sale in half the time.
Quality Kid Items
You may not have gone into the sale for a plastic bin full of Mr. Potato head parts but if you didn’t keep your eyes open you may not have found this! I can assume this item was well taken care of because it had its own storage box. The toys my kids love get their own storage box. Wink wink..
I KNOW this is an excellent deal. Check out how I stuffed a Box of Disney Mr. Potato head part at Disney Springs:
Costumes and Dress Up
There were SO MANY options for Halloween costumes as well as dress up.
If you were looking for a Disney costume for your next trip to Disney Parks THIS sale was the sale for you. SO MANY costumes for your little one to dress like their favorite princess or pirate.
Shop By Age and Size
The Just Between Friends Consignment sale is amazing because this is not your average yard sale. NOPE. Every clothing item is on a hanger and is sorted by gender and size! NO need to feel like you are pawing through piles of clothes to find what you are looking for.
Just flip through the racks, just like you would at your favorite department store. But at THIS sale you are not paying department store prices!
