KitchenAid Artisan Mixer Recipes
I have had a love affair with my KitchenAid stand mixer for over twenty five years.
When most kids were asking for cars and computers when they went off to college, I was asking for a KitchenAid mixer. But that makes more sense when you know I was heading to Johnson & Wales University in pursuit of a four year culinary degree. I knew that the KitchenAid mixer was the workhorse of the home kitchen and it was going to last me for years. My grandmother had one and she even passed it down to my sister. It still works beautifully!
I was going to be majoring in baking and pastry arts so I knew I was going to be doing a lot of creaming, whipping and folding with the KitchenAid. The dough hook atachment for when I was crafting yeast breads. I was trained to work dough by hand but I was also smart enough to know when to use a tool of the trade! KitchenAid was going to be one of those tools.
I was gifted a 5 quart KitchenAid from my parents upon graduation and I could not have been more excited. In addition to the bowl, whip, paddle and hook atachment, the KitchenAid is able to expand its functionality with the addition of attachments! Pasta machine, meat grinders, slicers and more! This mixer is so much more than a mixer. But let me tell you, it was HEAVY. Yes, I added it to my cargo when I stepped onto an Amtrak train en route to college. Every pound counted.
Now available is the lighter, smaller KitchenAid Artisan Mini Mixer! Where was this machine when I was moving up and down the east coast each year!? This stand mixer is now 20% smaller and 25% lighter, making it great for smaller kitchens. I think it would make a great addition to smaller spaces such as apartments with limited counter or storage space, a studio apartment or even a RV.
This mixer has the flip back head versus the bowl that raises and lowers.

Though mini in size, the NEW Mini Stand Mixer can make up to 5 dozen cookies in it’s 3.5 quart stainless steel bowl. The Artisan Mini Stand Mixer also features 10 mixing speeds and comes with a coated flat beater, dough hook and 6-wire whip.
When using your Artisan mini mixer always lock down the swivel head. This is a powerful machine and I have forgotten more than once. Needless to say it was a messy lesson to learn.
