15 Coloring Books For Adults To Relieve Stress
When I was a child I LOVED coloring!
NOTHING was better than a fresh box of crayons and a brand new coloring book. Opening that box of fresh Crayolas and breathing in the newness was intoxicating! The perfection of brand new crayons looking back at you from the box made you want to leave them in the box but the urge to put color on the fresh page soon takes over and you grab your favorite color.
I remember laying on the carpet and carefully coloring pages and pages, not aware that time was passing and not caring that it was. It was relaxing. I had a goal of finishing a coloring book cover to cover. As hard as I tried, it never happened.
Just because we are all grown up and trying to act like adults does not mean that we should be putting our crayons and colored pencils away. The relaxation, rhythmic movements of the pencil and the creative outlet of adding color to a page is still there. We just need to find a page or a book that speaks to us.
I challenge you to turn off Netflix (tough I know!), put away the phone, turn on some relaxing music and immerse yourself in the possibilities of the page. Remember what it felt like to fill in the blank space with color, to watch the lines your form cover the page giving it life that only you have imagined. Your stress just may melt away.
