As you may or may not know I am a wanna be homesteader. I say wanna be because I don’t have the time or attention span to create and maintain all the bits and pieces that goes into keeping house the way I envision it. I do my best with the garden, keeping chickens, canning and freezing. Canning has been a great way for my family to enjoy the fruits of the bounty of the garden all year long.
Canning is a great way of knowing what goes into your food. You have control of the produce, the process and the flavors.
Here are some of my favorite canning recipe from this blog:
- Home Made Chicken Stock
- Salsa Verde
- My Secret To THICK Strawberry Jam
- Home Made Tomato Paste
- Lemon Curd
But what if you are new to canning or are wanting to purchase some items for your own wanna be homesteader? Where do you start? Here are some of the items I have in my collection and I couldn’t do with out.
