Homemade Thyme Infused Bourbon
Homemade thyme infused bourbon will add another layer of flavor to your favorite bourbon cocktail. Aromatic and warm thyme infused bourbon might just be your secret ingredient on your bar cart.
I recently took a cocktail class and the teacher gave us a quick recipe for thyme infusing bourbon. I think the thyme makes all the difference in cocktails, but is not for everyone. My husband is not a fan. But I am! I hope you enjoy this recipe.
I use a small bundle of fresh thyme. The size of the bundle is subjective. Mine was the size of my hand. You can use a smaller amount but the the time of infusion will be longer.
Me sure to inspect for blades of grass, random fuzzies, and bitty creature that might still be along for the ride.
Also remove any dead sprigs.
I place the thyme in a quart mason jar and then pour the bourbon over the thyme. Another technique is to stuff the thyme IN the bottle of bourbon.
In my opinion the infusion will be too strong. I like a 3-4 day infusion and if you put the thyme IN the bottle, it can be hard to remove and the infusion could be too strong. But, you do you.
Four Roses Bourbon
I am using four roses bourbon. It is a good price point for this infusion.Fortunately this bottle fits perfectly into a quart container.
Peel The Label
To differentiate your thyme infused bourbon from your other Four Roses Bourbon peel the label off of both sides of the bottle. If you go slow and steady, it should peel off in one piece.
Serve on the rocks, straight or in your favorite cocktail. A great addition to your bar.
