7 Reasons To Visit Great Wolf Lodge In The Winter
This past weekend my family and I spent a fabulous getaway at Great Wolf Lodge, Pocono Mountain. The kids had a 1/2 day of school on Friday so as soon as they were out of school we hit the road and headed up the mountain to this themed indoor water park adventure resort. The kids were excited to be out of school for a 1/2 day, hitting the road to wet water fun and soaking up the 84 degree temperatures in the water park. My husband and I were looking forward to having a splashing good time with the kids and making memories as a family. I am a sucker for roller coasters, lazy rivers and water flumes and daring my kids to join me on all of them. This was just the getaway our family needed to get away from he cold snap we were experiencing. Bathing suits, water flumes, and splashing fun…..here we come!
I am a big fan of lists so here are my 7 reasons to visit Great Wolf Lodge In The Winter:
1. Water Park Passes Included.
With each room reservation your water park passes are included! Room check in is at 4 pm (or whenever your room is ready for you!) BUT you can hit the water park at 1 pm. Change in the locker rooms and hit the water fun while your room is made ready for you. I loved the value of all 5 of us staying in a room and the water park pass were included! There are different sized suites for different sized families. Up to 8 of you can stay is a suite. Water park passes for everyone!
Another way that Great Wolf Lodge is a fabulous family friendly resort is all the activities that are available. If you are a bit water logged or need another activity for the kids to do, head to the MagiQuest store and purchase your magical wand. Now your kids are ready for yet another adventure on their getaway! This is a live action treasure hunt that takes your kids on an adventure around the Lodge. Go from kiosk to kiosk and wave your wand in front of the portal and see how the story will unfold!
3. Ears are included.
When we were checking in I saw lots of kids wearing these adorable wolf cub ear headbands. I knew that Great Wolf Lodge had many packages that could be purchased to add extra fun and surprises to our family’s stay. I was just assuming that the ears were part of one of those packages. I was more than delighted when each of the kids were presented with their own pair of ears when we checked in. The ears were included! My kids were so excited to pop on their ears and run around the lodge like the little ‘cubs’ at the Lodge.
4. Scooops Kid Spa
How CUTE is this spa!? For your little lady who loved her mani or pedi this is an awesome treat just for her! Do you have a tween who is looking to have her facial? Great Wolf Lodge has her covered too. Cozy up in the hot pink terry robes and be pampered in the sweetest way! Here is a PDF of the spa menu.
5. Character Meet and Greets
Keep your eyes open for the lovable and fuzzy friends that are the characters of Great Wolf Lodge. My youngest is not one for giving hugs or high fives to fuzzy characters. He is more of a ‘person’ or ‘face’ character greeter. These characters are so patient with the kids and will pose for pictures. Keep you eyes out for Wiley the Wolf, Violet the Wolf, Oliver the Raccoon (pictured in my Instagram picture above), Rachel the Raccoon, Brinley the Bear and Sammy the Squirrel. We didn’t see every fuzzy friend on our trip but that could be because we spent so much time in the the water park!
6. Lifejackets are provided!
The last item we tossed in the van before we hit the road was his life vest. I didn’t think he was going to need it but with kids you can’t be sure what they are going to want when. I knew that if we took it he wasn’t going to want it and if we left it behind he wasn’t going to go in the water. That is just how this kid rolls. BUT we didn’t need to worry about it. Great Wolf Lodge provides life vests for a variety of ages. Obviously their life vest is not pictured in this photo but know that if you forget or your kid changes their mind you are covered.
7. Elements Spa!
We didn’t indulge in this trip but it was hard not to schedule a massage! Check out the couples massage room! This stressed mamma could use a massage but once again, we were having so much fun in the water park it just didn’t fit into the schedule! Not just massages but facials, mani/pedi’s, wraps and scrubs are on the list of indulgences on the spa menu at Elements.
