👨👨👧👦 Who do you invite to a Dipmas Party?
Dipmas is all about the dips! Invite friends and family who love party dips. Invite people with kids so they can try a little of this and a little of that without feeling like they need to fill and finish a plate of food.
Invite co-workers to Dipmas and enjoy bring together in a relaxed environment with delicious dips to enjoy. The neighbor that you wave to but aren't really sure if you could have a whole meal with them complete with conversation, will love the casualness and fun of a dip party.
Your social group needs to be invited to your next dip party. You know them, they love you and chances are they want to be included on your epic Dipmas party. Don't forget the family. Your Aunt Sue will want to tell everyone all about her favorite dips that she brought and might spill the beans about the 'secret ingredient' that she won't tell anyone about. It may take a few cocktails but she will let it slip.
🕰️ When should you have a Dipmas party?
If you ask me, any time is a good time to have a dipmas party! But 'traditionally' we have our dip party between Thanksgiving and the New Year. We find an evening that works for everyone's schedule, usually a Sunday afternoon in our case, and block out about 3 hours for the festivities.
But just because there is a 'mas' in the name does not mean that it is limited to the winter holidays. New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Galentine's Day or any sports game day will also work.
🏠 What is the best location for a dip party?
We have our party spread out between the kitchen, living room, and dining room. One year it spread out to the basement. I would say that the garage can be a good place, but we don't have room for cars in our garage, never mind a party!
🍽️ Supplies for a Dip Party
If you are looking to be the host with the most you are going want to have a few supplies on hand to make your guests feel welcome, relaxed and able to enjoy all the fun dips that everyone brings.
- Seating - Make sure there is ample seating for everyone. Depending on how large your party is, you may need to bring up some folding chairs from the basement.
- Serving Utensils - you know that a few, if not more of your guests will forget to bring a serving spoon or ladle. Make sure you pull out all your large serving spoons and small ladles to help get those dips on plates. I keep a box of disposable serving utensils in my backup pantry to pull out for parties like these.
- Power Strip - guests who are bringing a warm or hot dip may want to have a place to plug in their slow cooker. Designate a space for the hot dips and set up a place for everyone to plug in their crock pots.
- Small Plates - I go with disposable 9 " plates for this party. Get a big stack and don't worry about doing a lot of dishes at the end of the night. Be sure to have plenty of disposable cutlery and paper napkins as well.
Dimpas started when Christmas and a dip party got put together. Guests bring their favorite dip, hot, cold, sweet, or savory and everyone enjoys a meal full of our favorite part of a party! The dips!
No salads, no main dishes, no soups and no dessert...unless it is a dip!
