Homemade Fruit Gummies Using Jam Instead of Corn Syrup
I have searched for a recipe for homemade fruit gummies using jam instead of corn syrup and I couldn’t find one that I was happy with. So I created one! This recipe has two ingredients in it and it is super simple to create. I am happy with the recipe because I am able to switch out the jam and introduce different and unique fruit flavors to my kids in the form of a gummie. You know how kids inhale gummy snacks!
This recipe features Felix Lingonberry Jam. I love Felix jams because you can read every ingredient on the label. For example. The Lingonberries with blueberries, featured in this recipe, has six ingredients.
- Lingonberries (38%)
- Blueberries (10%)
- Thickener (pectin)
If you are not familiar with what exactly a lingonberry IS it is in the cranberry family. It is grown wild in Sweden and picked by hand. It is tart, has tiny seeds on the inside and is full of antioxidants is the winner of a 2016 National Parenting Products Award (NAPPA). As familiar as Volvo, Ikea and Swedish meatballs, Felix has been bringing Swedish Lingonberries to the American table for over 50 years.
Homemade Fruit Gummies Ingredients:
- 2 packets of Gelatine (4 come in a box)
- 1 jar of Felix Jam
Choose from one of these flavors:
- Lingonberries with Spiced Apple & Cinnamon
- Lingonberries with Ginger
- Lingonberries with Blueberries** featured in this recipe but ANY of them would be delicious
Look at the texture of the Lingonberries! Love them! They pop in your mouth and give you an extra burst of flavor.
Let’s get started
Empty your jam into a small sauce pot.
Start to warm the jam over medium heat.
Once is starts to get soft and fluid it is time to add the two packets of gelatin.
When you add the gelatin to the jam I don’t want you to dump it in.
No. Don’t do that.
It will clump and you will get mad at it.
Here is what I want you to do.
While whisking, gently make it snow gelatin over the jam. Not a blizzard, a gentle, soft snowfall of gelatin is what you are looking for.
Once you have whisked both packets of gelatin into the jam it is time to pour them into mold.
I am using a silicone mold. I love it because it is flexible, has great details and holds up wonderfully over time.
Give your mold a light spray of nonstick spray. Do not skip this step. I have skipped it before and it was not pretty. We want pretty gummies.
Pour your jam into each of the cavities with the help of a measuring cup or a turkey baster.
Here are some molds that will work for this recipe
To make sure the jam gets into all the details of the mold and to remove any trapped air bubbles tap the molds to remove the air.
Chill in the refrigerator until set firm. This can take from 20 minutes to over an hour, depending on the type of mold you use and how cold your refrigerator is.
Be sure they are set firm before removing them from the molds.
Peel the gummies from the mold and enjoy!
Store in a closed container.
If you are like me, and don’t have multiple or a large mold you will have more jam than mold space. While your gummies are setting in the refrigerator the rest of the batch will solidify.
Not a problem.
Simply reheat it over low heat to make it more fluid.
