✨ Here is why this recipe is amazing:
- Set it and forget it - once you have the ingredients in the pressure cooker, it does all the work for you!
- No burning - follow the instructions and you will have perfect brown rice without burning it or having it turn out mushy.
- Shorter cook time - because the bran, germ, and aleurone layer are not removed from the brown rice it takes almost an hour of cooking on the stove top to make a pot, but when you cook Brown Rice in Instant Pot rice is perfect in half that time.

📝 Ingredient notes:
- Brown Rice - unpolished whole grain rice – the bran, germ, and aleurone layer are not removed like the regular polished white rice.
- Olive oil - the olive oil adds a lovely flavor but it is not for everyone. Omit it if you like.
- Salt - I use kosher or large flake salt. Salt will enhance the flavors of the brown rice.
🔄 Substitutions
To add additional flavor, vegetable broth, chicken stock or beef broth can be added in place of the cups of water.

👩🍳 Chef Tip
Wash the brown rice before adding it to the pressure cooker. This is something I was never taught growing up and I didn't learn to wash rice until I went to culinary college. Just a few extra minutes and a bit of cold water can wash away the extra starch that will make the rice sticky if not washed away. Once I learned this 'trick' my rice cooking has been more successful.
