Lattice top pie is one of my favorites to make. It looks fancy but it is not that hard to make. I have been making this pie for the past 25 years. Yes folks, I am THAT old! This is the pie that we would take to families who had suffered a loss or just had a baby. This is the pie that won Grand Champion Baked Item at at county 4-H fair. Just note that I didn’t bake THAT winner. It was my sister. BUT WE USED THE SAME RECIPE! Oh well. That is how the cookie piecrust crumbles.
This is the pie that my mom would make when my grandparents would visit because it was my Pappap’s favorite. In high school the marching band was going to Quebec for an international competition. I didn’t want to sell pizza and wrapping paper. I sold this apple pie. A LOT of apple pies. It was a great lesson in entrepreneurship!
You may catch me on Good Day Pa! every Thursday at 12:30 on ABC27 for my ‘Thrifty Thursday with Sarah Mock’ segment. If not check out the video above.
