Poppy Cat is a cat that is all about making every day adventures extraordinary for you and your child. Poppy Cat is a colorful and adventure-filled preschool series on Sprout, based on the international award-winning books by British author Lara Jones. My preschooler loves watching the latest episodes on Sprout online. He loves the videos, games and printable activities. ‘Mommy can we print this, please!?’ is often heard in our house when he is on the site. I am happy to oblige because I know he will be learning and growing with each game craft or video.
This week we downloaded Poppy Cat’s app ‘Poppy Cat Goes To The Market’. This app geared toward preschoolers ages 2-5 years old, is just $1.99 and he is learning Spanish with its help! Poppy Cat and his friends go to the market to make sandwiches, shop for groceries, put together puzzles, organize produce and have a picnic. Both English and Spanish words are used for the grocery items. There is no need to turn on the Spanish mode! It is already activated. I wish I had an app like this when I was learning Spanish. Perhaps my retention rate would be more than it ended up being!
We have put this app in his folder on my iPhone and I love to hear it being used as we drive to pick his sisters up from school. His ability to absorb language is so great at this age and I know these Spanish words will stick with him for a long time to come.
Now for some holiday cheer! Poppy Cat want all children to have extraordinary adventures. This goes for the Holiday season as well. In our house I attach precious memories to Christmas ornaments. When My kids are little I like to use their hand prints to create pieces of art, including ornaments. Here are my directions to make a Snowman Ornament Craft To Help Make Your Holiday Season Extraordinary!
Glass (or plastic) ball ornaments
Black Sharpie Marker (optional)
Paint the palm of your child’s hand with white craft paint.
Place the ornament in their hand with finger spread apart.
Encourage them not to wiggle their fingers as they hold it.
Allow the paint to dry completely.
Using different colored craft paints, add accessories such as hats and scarves.
Once everything has dried completely use a black sharpie marker (or a preeminent marker) to add buttons and face details to the snowmen.
Now you have an extraordinary ornament to capture how little your child’s had was this Holiday season!
