Determine the correct size drill bit by comparing it to the diameter of the tip of the smoking gun.
Using a piece of tape, mark on the drill bit to a depth of ¾ of the depth of the wooden base.
On the inside of the wooden base, inside the glass groove, using a drill bit, drill a hole straight down, stopping when the tape has reached the surface of the wooden board.
Drill a pilot hole on the side of the wooden base, perpendicular to the hole, stopping once you break the surface and drill into the first hole.
Switch to the drill bit that is the correct diameter corresponding to the diameter of the tip of the smoking gun.
Drill through the pilot hole and make it the correct diameter.
