Instructions

Oven Method

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and arrange shelled raw sunflower seeds in a single layer on a rimmed cookie sheet.
    1 Cup sunflower seeds
  • Toast sunflower seeds in a preheated oven on a rimmed baking sheet for 5 minutes.
  • Open the oven and stir or shake the pan so the nuts brown evenly without burning. The nuts should be starting to toast and start to smell nutty.
  • Continue to roast the seeds in the hot oven for an additional 2-4 minutes. Keep an eye on them until the seeds are golden in color.
  • Remove the seeds from the pan and cool on a plate. By removing the seeds from the pan, they will stop cooking and prevent burning.

Stove Top Pan Method

  • In a dry pan, sprinkle the raw sunflower seeds in a single layer. Set the heat to medium heat and allow the seeds to warm to the touch. About 4 minutes.
  • Stir, shake or flip the seeds in the pan as they continue to toast. Continue to roast the seeds in the pan, continually moving them until the desired golden brown color is achieved.
  • Remove the seeds from the pan and cool on a plate. By removing the seeds from the pan, they will stop cooking and prevent burning from the caryover heat from the pan.
