Orange Chocolate, Almond Biscotti is one of my favorite cookies to serve with coffee. They are easier to make than you my think. Here are the step by step, easy instructions.

Try this easy Orange Chocolate Almond Biscotti Recipe with a cup of coffee. They are easier to make than you may think. Here are the step by step, easy instructions.

    Orange Chocolate, Almond Biscotti

If you like this biscotti recipe be sure to try cranberry almond biscotti and serve it with sous vide cold brew coffee.

    What does biscotti mean?

Biscotti translates to 'twice baked' or 'twice cooked'. By baking the biscotti 'loaf' that is the first bake. After it is cooled, sliced and returned to the oven, that is the second bake. The idea is you are baking the extra moisture out of the biscotti. The almonds are going to to toast and the biscotti will become very crunchy.

    Orange Chocolate Almond Biscotti Ingredients:

    • all-purpose flour
    • baking powder
    • sugar
    • unsalted butter, room temperature
    • zest of an orange
    • Juice from the orange
    • salt
    • eggs
    • whole almonds
    • dark chocolate chips
    • Extra chocolate for melting
    • Extra orange zest for garnish

    Biscotti Instructions:

    1. Sift together the flour and baking powder. Lumps are not wanted in this recipe.
    2. In a mixing bowl with the paddle attachment, beat the sugar, softened butter, zest of one orange, juice from the orange and salt.
    3. Beat the mixture until it is creamed together. (I let the mixer run on medium high for about 3 minutes.)
    4. Add the eggs, one at a time.
    5. Add the flour mixture to the butter and egg blend.
    6. Just before the batter comes together, add the almonds and cranberries.
    7. Do not over mix.

    How to bake biscotti

    1. Form the dough into a log about 10-inch long, 4-inch wide log on the prepared baking sheet.
    2. I use a silpat mat but parchment paper works as well.
    3. Bake at 350 until light golden, about 40 minutes.

How to slice biscotti for second baking

    1. Cool at least 30 minutes. Completely cool is preferred.
    2. Allow to cool so you can easily remove it from the pan.
    3. The cooler it is the more success you will have with the next step.
    4. Use a long serrated slicing knife and use a pressing/sawing motion to slice the biscotti widthwise into ½ to 1 inch slices.
    5. If the first few slices fall apart you need to let the biscotti cool a bit longer.
    6. Line the biscotti up on a metal cooling rack and place the cooling rack on a cookie sheet.
    7. Back into the 350 degree oven they go for another 20-30 minutes. I say 20-30 minutes because it depends on how thick you have sliced your biscotti. The thicker they are, the longer they are going to continue to bake.

Hi, this is a great recipe but I still see cranberries in the text and I cannot see where the orange juice is used, but I see it in the ingredient list…where does the juice go? Thanks.

The recipe is good but boy does it need editing! In the instructions you mention zest of a LEMON, not an orange, then later cranberries?
