🍪 Ingredients needed:

  • Rice Cereal squares - Rice Chex, corn Chex or Crispix cereal. Or any combination of the three.
  • Oreos - regular oreos are good. No need to get the double stuff ones. save the double stuff Oreos for oreo truffles.
  • White Chocolate Chips -
  • Chocolate Chips - Milk chocolate or white chocolate chips

🥣 How to make cookies and cream muddy buddies:

  1. Divide Chex cereal into two large bowls (2 ½ cups in each).
  2. Place 1 cup powdered icing sugar in a gallon-sized ziptop bag and set aside.
  3. Scrape Oreo filling out of cookies and save for later in the recipe. crushed oreos, crumbs in the bowl of a food processor
  4. Pulse Oreo cookies in a food processor until fine crumbs remain.cooke crumbs and powdere sugar in a zip top bag to be shaken
  5. Dump the Oreo crumbs in a second gallon-sized bag and add ½ cup powdered sugar. Seal and shake to combine. melted white chocolate in a glass bowl and a spoon
  6. Melt the white chocolate chips in a small microwave-safe bowl and melt for 25 seconds. Stir and reheat as needed. Add Oreo filling from step 3 to the melted white chocolate and stir until completely combined. white chocoalte on top of rice chex cereal, reasy to be combined

  11. Scoop the Chex cereal into the bag with the Oreo crumb and powdered sugar mixture, then seal and shake to coat the cereal completely.
  12. Spread the two candy and powdered sugar-coated cereal mixtures onto a cookie sheet in a single layer and allow the chocolate to set completely for approximately 30 minutes. mixed chocolate and white chocolate coated chex for Cookies and cream muddy buddies
  13. Stir the two cereal mixtures together before storing or serving. Optionally, garnish with mini OREO cookies.

How do you store puppy chow?

I store my muddy buddies in either a gallon-sized zip-top bag or another air-tight container.  It is important to keep humidity and moisture away from the snack mix. Moisture will dissolve the powdered sugar making the treat sticky.

Ingredients

  • 5 Cups (310 g) Chex cereal
  • 8 (8) OREOs
  • ¾ Cups (135 g) White Chocolate Chips
  • ¾ Cups (177.44 g) Chocolate Chips
  • 1 ½ Cup (180 g) Powdered Sugar

Instructions 

  1. Divide Chex cereal into two large bowls (2 ½ cups in each).
    5 Cups (310 g) Chex cereal
  2. Place 1 cup powdered icing sugar in a gallon-sized ziptop bag and set aside.

  3. Scrape Oreo filling out of cookies and save for later in the recipe.
    8 OREOs
  4. Pulse Oreo cookies in a food processor until fine crumbs remain.
  5. Dump the Oreo crumbs in a second gallon-sized bag and add ½ cup powdered sugar. Seal and shake to combine.
    8 OREOs, 1 ½ Cup (180 g) Powdered Sugar
  6. Melt the white chocolate chips in a small microwave-safe bowl and melt for 25 seconds. Stir and reheat as needed. Add Oreo filling from step 3 to the melted white chocolate and stir until completely combined.
    ¾ Cups (135 g) White Chocolate Chips
  7. Pour white chocolate mixture over the first bowl of the Chex cereal and stir to coat.
  8. Scoop the Chex cereal into the bag with the (plain) powdered icing sugar, then seal and shake to coat the cereal completely with the powdered icing sugar.
  9. Heat the chocolate chips in a small microwave-safe bowl and melt for 25 seconds. Stir and reheat as needed.
    ¾ Cups (177.44 g) Chocolate Chips
  10. Pour melted chocolate chips over the second bowl of Chex cereal and stir to coat.
  11. Scoop the Chex cereal into the bag with the Oreo crumb and powdered sugar mixture, then seal and shake to coat the cereal completely.
  12. Spread the two candy and powdered sugar-coated cereal mixtures onto a cookie sheet in a single layer and allow the chocolate to set completely for approximately 30 minutes.
  13. Stir the two cereal mixtures together before storing or serving. Optionally, garnish with mini OREO cookies.
