Lemon peppermint stick also known as Baltimore lemon stick or Flower Mart lemon peppermint stick. No matter what you call it, this soft peppermint stick and fresh lemon is the perfect balance of sweet, sour and sticky. Lemon peppermint stick is a Baltimore tradition that a must for summer fairs, fundraisers, backyard and block parties.

Speaking of summer, you are going to want to check out these easy crockpot meals to make your beach vacation easier. And keeping with the Baltimore theme of this post, be sure to read up on my ideas for a getaway weekend in Baltimore.

Lemon Peppermint Stick

I had my first lemon peppermint stick at a May day celebration at the school my sister was a teacher. All the girls were carrying around these lemons and they were sucking on peppermint sticks. I had to have one for myself! Even if you are not a fan of lemon or peppermint you NEED to try this treat.

The peppermint sticks are not a traditional candy cane peppermint stick. This candy stick is semi porous.

I bought the King Leo soft peppermint sticks from Amazon because I couldn’t find any in my area. I bought this particular piece because it can in a tin and I felt they had less of a change of breaking in transit. I had read some reviews that others would break when shipped. They are also individually wrapped so there is less change of humidity taking over and making them a sticky mess.

Bob’s Sweet Strips are another option. They both work and everyone has their favorites.

Where to find soft peppermint sticks:

Lemon Stick

Slice a lemon in half around the circumference. Some people cut the top third off but I find that the short sticks do better in half a lemon. Also, if this is a fundraiser you have a better profit margin if you can sell two vs. the one.

Porous Peppermint Stick

Use a little knife to make a small X in the center of the lemon and press the soft porous peppermint stick into the center.

The juice from the lemon will start to flow and you are able to suck it up the peppermint stick.

Occasionally you might have to bit the tip off of the peppermint stick.

Other Lemon Recipes:

  • Sous Vide Lemon Curd
  • Pork Tenderloin Lemon Piccata
  • Homemade Limoncello Recipe

These are sticky goodness.

My tip if you are preparing them for a crowd: slice the lemons and let everyone place their own peppermint stick into the lemon.
