Cinnamon toast crunch cereal bar ingredients:

A bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, a bowl of marshmallows, a stick of butter, and a wooden spoon are arranged on a white surface with a striped cloth, ready to be transformed into delicious cinnamon toast crunch bars.
  • Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal: Provides the main structure and flavor of the treats while adding a sweet cinnamon taste and crunchy texture. Look for fresh cereal without crushed pieces at the bottom of the box.
  • Mini Marshmallows: Acts as the binding agent when melted and creates the signature gooey, chewy texture. Mini marshmallows are preferred over large ones as they melt more evenly.
  • Butter: Adds richness, helps prevent the marshmallow from becoming too sticky, and improves the overall texture. Unsalted butter is best for controlling saltiness, but margarine works if you prefer a dairy-free option.
  • Cooking Spray: Creates a non-stick barrier that makes removing the treats and cleanup much easier. Choose a neutral-flavored spray to avoid affecting the taste.

How to make cinnamon toast crunch bars

Cinnamon Toast Crunch bars are stacked on a plate, surrounded by more treats, mini marshmallows, and a cereal box in the background.

Prepare to make the treats

  • Get out your 9x13 baking dish and large mixing bowl.
  • Cut your stick of butter into 8 equal pieces (about 1 tablespoon each).
  • Spray your baking dish well with cooking spray or line with parchment paper.
A bowl of mini marshmallows with butter pieces on top awaits transformation into scrumptious cinnamon toast crunch bars. Nearby, a wooden spoon rests on a striped cloth beside a tempting bowl of cereal.

Step 1

Put all marshmallows and butter pieces in your large mixing bowl.

A glass bowl filled with batter sits on a white surface, ready to be transformed into delightful cinnamon toast crunch bars, alongside a wooden spoon, a bowl of cereal squares, and a folded kitchen towel.

Microwave the mini marshmallows

Microwave for 2½ minutes - the marshmallows will puff up a lot, this is normal.

Take bowl out and stir everything really well. If you see any unmelted chunks:

  • Put it back in for just 10 seconds.
  • Stir again.
  • Repeat if needed until completely smooth.

Working quickly before it cools

  • Pour in all the Cinnamon Toast Crunch

Sarah's Top Tip

Spray your hand with cooking spray to help prevent the treats from sticking to your hand when you press them in the pan.

Storage Tips

Room Temperature Storage (Recommended)

Store treats in an airtight container with wax paper or parchment between layers to prevent sticking. Keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, where they'll last up to 3 days, and avoid placing them near heat sources that could make them sticky.

Never store these treats in the refrigerator as they'll become hard and rubbery, and avoid freezing as this ruins the texture and makes them soggy. Skip storing them in plastic bags since this can create condensation, and don't leave them uncovered or they'll get stale quickly.

Bonus Tip

Allow treats to cool completely and cut them into squares before storing for the best results. For optimal freshness, try to consume within 48 hours, and if preparing for gifts or parties, package them in cellophane bags and use within 24 hours.

Recipe tips:

Are cinnamon toast crunch bars gluten-free?

These Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal Treats are NOT gluten-free. Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, the main ingredient, contains wheat as a primary ingredient, which contains gluten. Substitute the Cinnamon Toast Crunch with a gluten-free cinnamon cereal (like some varieties of Chex)and add a bit of cinnamon to replicate the flavor.

2 bags Bags Mini Marshmallows, 1 stick Butter
  3. Microwave for 2 minutes and 30 seconds or until the marshmallows have risen near the top of the bowl.
  4. Remove and stir until no chunks of butter or marshmallow are visible. If you have some chunks after stirring, simply return it to the microwave for 10 seconds at a time until smooth.
