How to make Seasoned Oyster Crackers

Let's get these crackers baked and seasoned to perfection!

Preheat oven to 325

Combine oil and the seasoning

In a medium bowl, combine the oil, seasoning packet, lemon pepper, dill weed and garlic powder. (The oil will look slightly creamy from the ranch powder.)

Stir to combine

Add the oyster crackers to the bowl and stir to combine being sure to coat all the crackers thoroughly.

Want More Flavor?

Let the crackers soak up the seasoned oil before baking. Rest them for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes to help the seasoning absorb evenly.

Storage Tips

This snack is perfect for prepping ahead! You can make these up to 5 days in advance. Once cooled, store them in an airtight container or zip-top bag at room temperature. No need to refrigerate; just keep them dry and sealed to maintain crunch.

Frequently asked questions, answers and tips:

Can I use a different kind of cracker besides oyster crackers?

Yes! If you don't have oyster crackers, mini saltines or broken-up pretzel bites work well. Just make sure whatever you use is bite-sized and can hold up to the oil and baking process without going soggy.

Can I make these in an air fryer?

Technically, yes...if your air fryer has a large enough basket. Use a low setting (around 300°F), stir every 5 minutes, and keep an eye on them. The total cook time will be shorter, likely 10-15 minutes.

How do I keep the seasoning from clumping?

If your seasoning mix is clumping, whisk it thoroughly into the oil before adding the crackers. You can also sift the ranch packet and spices together first to break up any dry clumps.

Notes

A note about the crackers and the oil.
My original recipe called for a 16-ounce box/bag of oyster crackers and ¾ cup of oil.
I am no longer able to find the 16-ounce package in my area. I have adjusted the recipe to accommodate the smaller size. (14 ounces crackers & ⅔ cup  oil)
Take note of the size of the oyster cracker package and adjust your recipe accordingly.
