🍊 Ingredients needed to make orange fluff jello salad
Orange Powdered Gelatin - gives the salad its signature orange flavor.
Non-dairy Whipped Topping - often called cool whip, but I will use the store brand with out any issues, use an 8-ounce container and be sure to thaw it.
Mandarin Oranges - drain them and discard the juice.... or drink it. That is up to you!
Cottage Cheese - I like to use medium curd cottage cheese for this recipe if you can find it. If not, use what you like!
Miniature Marshmallows - to make the salad extra fluffy.
Sweetened Shredded Coconut - I do not toast the coconut for this recipe but you are welcome to toast all of it or just a portion to use as a garnish.

Swap out various jello flavors to change up the entire flavor profile of the salad. Pair peach jello with a can of small diced peaches. Substitute in strawberry jello, lime jello or raspberry jello and add in a can of drained fruit cocktail.
Other popular add-ins are sour cream, yogurt, fruit cocktail, crushed pineapple, pineapple tidbits, chopped pecans, etc. Many variances exist for this salad since it’s been around for so many years. So, just adjust it to your preferences before you make this recipe.

Now that the orange fluff salad is all made, it's time to consider serving and storage. This dish can be stored covered with plastic wrap or in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Leftovers can be enjoyed for up to a week if kept stored in the fridge.
It's important not to freeze the salad as it will not maintain its flavors and textures once thawed. When serving leftovers, make sure to give the bowl a good stir to blend the flavors together again. If making ahead of time, the orange fluff salad needs at least one hour to chill.
