Valentine Pretzel Hug Treats

These treats are perfect for Valentine's Day parties, classroom treats, or as a sweet homemade gift. Package them in cellophane bags tied with ribbon for a festive touch! Another delicious Valentine's treat is my Valentine's cookie cups. I have more cookie cup recipes if you want to make some different varieties.

Ingredients:

Valentine Pretzel Hug Treats ingredients with text overlay.
  • 70 butter snap pretzels (or mini pretzels as a substitute)
  • 70 Hershey's Hugs candies (or Hershey's Kisses for variation)
  • ½ cup red candy melts (Wilton recommended for best results)
  • ½ cup pink candy melts
  • Valentine's heart sprinkles (for decoration)
  • Butter Snap Pretzels - I love the structure of the grid of the butter snap pretzels.
  • Hugs candies - Hershey Kiss candies with dark chocolate and white chocolate stripes. Be sure to unwrap each kiss, removing the foil and the paper flag.
  • Candy melts - I have the Wilton candy melts in the recipe card because they have the best melting results.
  • Valentines heart sprinkles - adding a few sprinkles

Substitutions

  • Use mini pretzels if butter snap pretzels aren't available.
  • Swap Hershey's Hugs for milk or dark chocolate Kisses.
  • Use white chocolate chips or almond bark instead of candy melts.

Set and Store

  • Return the tray to the refrigerator for 1 hour to allow the candy coating to fully set.
  • Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.

Tips for success

  • Unwrap all the Hugs before starting to save time.
  • Stir candy melts every 15 seconds in the microwave to avoid overheating.
  • Let kids help with assembling the pretzels and adding sprinkles-it's a fun activity!
  • If the candy coating thickens while dipping, reheat it in the microwave for 10-15 seconds.

Storage Tips

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 1 week. Avoid storing in the refrigerator long-term, as condensation can cause the candy coating to soften.
