Green Bean Fries Copy Cat Recipe
You know you have had them. You know you love them. You know you want to make them at home. T.G.I. Friday’s has some pretty AWESOME appetizers in the green bean fries. Recently my husband and I had them when we stopped by the restaurant for a quick drink and these were the appetizer that we chose.
I scoured the internet when I got home to find a copy cat recipe and this is a mashup of about 3 of the recipes that I found. Nothing is like sitting at the restaurant having the server bring you the freed green beans but this recipe is a pretty close second place.
Let’s Get Started!
Start with 1 pound of fresh green beans.
You can probably get away with frozen in a pinch but DO NOT use canned. Canned are WAY to soft for this application.
Trim the end off of them.
I just trim the stem end, not the blossom end….shhhh. Don’t tell my husband.
Blanch them in simmering water for 3-4 minutes, depending on the thickness of the bean.
No need to pat dry. The water will help the flour in the next step to adhere to the bean.
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup cream (you are getting ready to fry beans… who cares!?)
- Italian seasoned bread crumbs. Panko or regular. Your choice.
Dredge the beans in the flour mixture.
Dunk them to coat in the egg mixture.
Coat them in the bread crumbs.
Sorry there is not photo. That is why there is a video in this post.
Fry them in vegetable oil until crisp. It should take about a minute.
- 1/2 cup ranch dressing
- 1 tablespoon wasabi sauce. (in the dressing isle)
