How program a universal remote

1. Locate SETUP button on the GE universal remote control,
2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red light is lit. Release the SETUP button. The remote is now in setup mode.

How to set up a GE Universal Remote

Setting up a GE Universal remote control is pretty simple. There are three options on how to program your GE remote with ge universal remote codes and I have the step by step instructions listed below.

Directly Entering the GE Universal Remote Codes Method

1. Remove the battery cover and the batteries from the battery compartment and locate the model number on the label.
2. Manually turn “ON” the device (TV, DVD player, DVR, etc.) you wish to pair to the remote.
3. Hold the “Setup” button for few seconds until the indicator light turns “RED”. Press the coordinating device button, such as “TV,” “DVD,” or “AUX.”
4. Enter the ge universal remote codes ( It can be either 3-digits or 4-digits). If the code entered is correct, then the red indicator light will turn “OFF”.
5. Press “POWER” button. If the device turns “OFF”, you’ve successfully programmed that device into the remote control.

1. Power “ON” your TV or another device which you wish to control.
2. Hold the “Setup” button for few seconds until the indicator light turns “RED”. Press the coordinating device button, such as “TV,” “DVD,” or “AUX.”
3. Press “POWER” button to turn “OFF’ the device. (Note: If you are using a V2, V3 or V4 remote and programming a DVD player, press “PLAY” and wait for the device to begin playing.)
4. After 2 seconds press the “POWER/PLAY” button again. The device will turn “OFF”. (Note: V2, V3 and V4 remotes will automatically send the command after every two seconds.)
5. Press the “ENTER/ OK” button on remote to lock up the code. The indicator light will turn “OFF” if you’ve successfully entered the code.

Brand Code Search Method

1. Turn “ON” the device which you want to control with your GE Universal remote (TV, VCR, DVD, DVR, satellite receiver, or cable box).
2. Search the “Brand Code” from the list given with your GE universal remote manual or see the list below.
3. Press the “DEVICE” button you want to program (TV, DVD, etc). When the light turns on and remains on, keep holding down that button.
4. Press and hold the “POWER” button. The power button will light up. Release the “POWER” and device button. The device button light will remain on. (If not, repeat the steps again.)
5. Using the remote’s digital number pad, enter the 3 or 4 digit code of the brand you are looking for. The light for that device button will remain on.
6. Press the “Power” button repeatedly until the device turns “OFF”. If the device turns off, the GE remote control codes got the correct code.
7. Press the “STOP” button on ge remotes in order to save the code and meanwhile, the light will turn “OFF”.
