Every cocktail enthusiast will want this smoke chamber, paired with a handheld portable smoke gun, to infuse their favorite cocktails with real smoke not just smoke flavor.

What is a cocktail smoker?

A cocktail smoker is a glass dome or enclosed smokebox that will hold cold smoke from a handheld smoker. The smoke will infuse the cocktail giving it a lovely smoky flavor with real smoke.

What is needed to make a cocktail smoking cloche?

  • Glass dome with wooden base - (see list of where to purchase one further down the post)
  • Drill bits, 2 in gradual sizes
  • Drill, cordless or corded
  • Masking tape - any tape that can be easily removed. It will be used for marking drill bits for depth.

What type of wood is best for smoking cocktails?

Just like using hard wood to smoke meat, wood chips and shavings used to smoke a cocktail should be untreated and free from chemicals. Shavings should be small enough to fit into the burning chamber of the smoking gun. The best type of wood to smoke is for your smoked cocktails is the one you like! Here are some suggestions of types of wood to use:

  • Hickory
  • Mesquite
  • Applewood
  • Cherrywood
  • Pecan
  • Maple

How to make a DIY cocktail smoking cloche:

  1. Remove the pedestal, if there is one and if you want the cocktail smoker to not be elevated. It can be left on if you would like an elevated cocktail smoker. measuring a drill bit
  2. Determine the correct size drill bit by comparing it to the diameter of the tip of the smoking gun.
  3. Using a piece of tape, mark on the drill bit to a depth of ¾ of the depth of the wooden base drilling a hole for the DIY Cocktail Smoker.
  4. On the inside of the wooden base, inside the glass groove, using a drill bit, drill a hole straight down, stopping when the tape has reached the surface of the wooden board. drilling the side hole for the DIY Cocktail Smoker
  5. Drill a pilot hole on the side of the wooden base, perpendicular to the hole, stopping once you break the surface and drill into the first hole.
  6. Switch to the drill bit that is the correct diameter corresponding to the diameter of the tip of the smoking gun.
